Jerry Nadler sent a four page letter to Attorney General Barr on Tuesday, demanding information regarding the Justice Department’s new “intake process” after it was reported that Rudy Giuliani channeled information on the Biden’s to the DOJ.
In the letter, Nadler claims the DOJ accepting information from Giuliani “would seem to be a significant departure from traditional channels,” and it raises “conflicts of interest-both for the Department, generally, and for you [Barr], specifically.”
he letter formally asked for responses to a list of 11 questions within the next two weeks. For instance, the first two read …
“Please describe the exact “intake process” by which any information from Mr. Giuliani or others may be received, documented, and reviewed.
“Under what official guidelines or procedures was this intake process established? Who has reviewed this process? Has the Department’s legal counsel reviewed whether this process conflicts with any of the Department’s established guidelines, ethics rules. or internal procedures?”
During a press conference on Monday, Barr confirmed information received from Giuliani is being reviewed by the Department.
This announcement comes just days after Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News claiming he had the “smoking gun” on Hunter Biden.
“Lindsey, get started,” Giuliani said while laughing as he claimed he had “what I used to call when I was U.S. attorney, the smoking gun.”
“We’ve got the documents, Lindsey,” Giuliani continued, “This is a money laundering transaction…. It’s about $14.6 million. It’s a notice from the Latvian government to the Ukrainian government that Hunter Biden is under investigation for corruption.”
